Volvo’s Senior Vice President of Design, Thomas Ingenlath, was recently presented with the “Design Hero” award at the 2017 Autocar Awards. A fixture at Volvo for over five years, Ingenlath and his team have gone to great lengths to revolutionize Volvo's design on their premium luxury cars and SUVs.

“It is a great honor to receive this award from such an influential motoring title as Autocar,” said Ingenlath. “Volvo’s new design language is Scandinavian design at its best: form with function, and genuine beauty. That the hard work of everyone involved in designing Volvos has been recognized in such a way is a fantastic achievement.”

Evolving over the years, Volvo’s latest design language utilizes clean and simple lines, which are traditional Scandinavian design cues. Striking detail, and natural materials and light within the cabin, also make up Volvo’s design language. To showcase Volvo design at the Autocar Awards, Ingenlath chose to highlight the V90 D5 Inscription, which comes in Maple Brown, and features a panoramic sunroof, tinted windows, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and blond/charcoal Nappa leather upholstery.
