What is the XC40 Recharge?

The 16th of October, 2019, saw the unveiling of the XC40 Recharge, which is Volvo's first fully electric car. Volvo has long since had a reputation for being the builder of the safest vehicles on the road, but now it wants to extend its reputation to produce the least amount of pollution as well.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge honestly doesn't look much different than the gas-powered XC40, but that is because the main differences lie within the vehicle. The battery pack is located within the middle of the floor of the Recharge in an orange aluminum case, called a safety cage to create a built-in crumple zone to surround the battery.

The XC40 Recharge has a battery life of about 200+ miles, and the battery can charge up to 80 percent within 40 minutes due to a quick charging system. In collaboration with Android, the XC40 Recharge also comes with an embedded Android Auto system, which enables it to receive over-the-air software updates. This is only the beginning of the plans that Volvo has for making electric vehicles. They have a goal of reducing their carbon footprint by 40 percent by the year 2025, and it's all started with the creation of the XC40 Recharge.
